Students at Dirigo Elementary School have Art class once a week for 45 minutes. Students are expected to be Safe, Respectful, and Responsible in the Art Room. This creates a welcoming learning environment for all students.

Line: Lines are what we use to write and draw with every day. It is a dot that takes a walk.
Examples of lines:
Horizontal, Vertical, Diagonal
ZigZag, Curved, Thick, Thin, Broken
Shape: Shapes are an area enclosed with a line. Shapes are two dimensional.

Geometric shapes are circle, square, rectangle, oval, triangle, ex.

Space: Space is an area in or around an object.

Color: Color is created when light hits and object and is reflected in your eye.
There are three elements of color: hue,intensity, and value.
Hue is what we know as colors, such as red or yellow.
Intensity is how bright or dull a color is.
Examples of Color Families
Primary Colors: Red, Yellow, and Blue. These colors come from the factory.
Secondary Colors: Orange, Green, Violet. These colors are created by mixing different amounts of primary colors.
Complementary Colors: Orange and Blue, Red and Green, Yellow and Violet. These colors are across from each other on the color wheel and make each other "dance".
